Project PIPELINE seeks to transform the statewide ecosystem for recruiting, training, and
retaining special education teachers by establishing a grow your own pipeline to mitigate the
critical shortage in North Dakota. PIPELINE would streamline teacher training beginning in high
school. Teacher candidates could begin working as paraeducators, then becoming special
education technicians, and finally growing into licensed special education teachers.
Through coordinated partnerships, PIPELINE will identify a transparent, fluid pathway for
teacher candidates by eliminating barriers related to credit transfer and redundancy in
coursework. PIPELINE is funded through the Bush Foundation.
